Indoor positioning with BLE beacons
Inside a building, GPS is too weak to tell the floor and the corridor. The phone can instead pick up small Bluetooth transmitters placed around the site and use them to show where it is on the map.
How BLE positioning works
Beacons are small Bluetooth Low Energy transmitters mounted on walls or below the ceiling. The phone picks up the signal of the nearest few beacons and uses it to work out its position, typically to 1–3 m. Accuracy depends on how densely the beacons are placed.

Installation and maintenance
The AddNavi deployment team installs and configures the beacons. The panel shows the battery status of each beacon, and battery replacement is part of system maintenance.
Beacons and QR codes together
A QR code sets the starting point at the moment it is scanned. Beacons show the position continuously, as the visitor walks. Many sites use both: the QR code opens the map and the beacons guide onwards.
Wayfinding on the phoneFrequently asked questions
How accurate is BLE positioning?
Typically 1–3 m. Accuracy depends on the beacon density, which is chosen to suit the site.
Who installs the beacons?
The AddNavi deployment team, which also configures them and places them on the site map.
Who replaces the batteries?
Addictive, as part of maintenance. The panel shows the battery status of each beacon.
Are beacons required?
No. Wayfinding also works without them, with the kiosk or a QR code setting the starting point. Beacons add a live position as the visitor walks.
